Product details

Our Buttermilk Cleansing Bar is a nourishing, natural soap for dry skin, made using fresh milk (never powdered). Buttermilk has long been used in skincare for its moisturizing and skin-softening properties, making it especially helpful for those dealing with dryness caused by sun exposure, air-conditioning or everyday environmental stress.

It's also superfatted with Cocoa Butter and Olive Oil to help lock in moisture, so skin feels clean, soft and comfortably hydrated after every wash, never stripped or squeaky.

This makes it a great everyday natural soap bar for people dealing with dry skin conditions, sensitivity or general skin irritation. Suitable for all ages, body part and skin types.

How to use

For best results:

  1. Lather in your hands or straight onto wet skin, then gently massage over face and body.
  2. Rinse thoroughly. This low-irritant formula gently cleanses without stripping the skins natural oils.
  3. Follow up with your favorite moisturizer to lock in hydration and keep skin soft and comfortable.

Sodium Olivate (Saponified Olive Oil), Sodium Cocoate (Saponified Coconut Oil), Sodium Stearate (Olive Oil Derived), Aqua (H₂O’s Fancy Name), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea Fruit (Olive) Oil, Glycerin (Coconut-Derived, Palm-free), Buttermilk (Fresh), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Fragrance, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate (Naturally Derived, Biodegradable).

Because we make our products for our families, we have a strict ingredient philosophy that excludes ingredients like Parabens, Phenoxyethanol and penetration enhancers.

We show all of the ingredients we use in our products on our website, not just the pretty ones. That way you know exactly what's in each one, and can get in touch if you have any more questions.

Who is this suitable for?

This cleansing bar is designed and suitable for adults and children, including babies, with dry, sensitive and irritated skin.

As with any topical product, we recommend patch testing first before regular use.

Is this cleanser suitable for all skin types?

Our Cleansing Bars are specifically made for sensitive skin, so it is suitable for all skin types that experience irritation and or dryness. As always, we choose not to use ingredients like Parabens, Sulphates, SLS and synthetic preservatives, making it a great choice for those who typically experience adverse reactions to skincare products.

Are your cleansers made of milk?

We aren’t called MooGoo because our cleansers are made of milk. No cleansers or moisturizers are made of milk, or in fact, have any meaningful amount of milk in them at all. Despite what labels may claim. If you think about it, putting milk in a moisturizer and then sitting it on the shelf for a year or so would make it very smelly! The only exception to this is this Cleansing Bar, which go through a saponification process to make them stable.
 
We do also use Milk Protein in some of our products, like in our bestselling Milk Wash,  because the protein helps with skin elasticity. Milk Protein doesn’t go rancid, it is the fats and sugars in milk that go sour.

What ingredients do you avoid when making a cleanser?

There's lots of things you won't find in our cleansers (or any of our other products for that matter) because they were all formulated for family members and close friends, and we wanted the best for them. We steer clear of ingredients like SLS and SLES, which can be found in many commercial toothpaste, shampoos and hand soaps to floor cleaners and engine degreasers. It’s quite a harsh ingredient and doesn't play nice with skin, often causing dryness, irritation and even skin flare-ups.

We much prefer naturally derived, skin-friendly cleansers because they provide a gentle and thorough cleanse without over-stripping the skin of its natural oils. We also don't use any synthetic preservatives such as Parabens and Phenoxyethanol, although they're still pretty common, even by a few brands that claim to be natural (you know who you are!). We avoid a lot of other things too, but there’s way too many to list here. Instead, we just stick to natural and effective ingredients for healthy skin.

    Our Hydrating Cleansing Bar is designed to be less drying than traditional soaps, but it isn't intended to replace a moisturiser. We still recommend applying a moisturiser after showering, especially if you have dry skin.
